The Federal Institute of Industrial Research, Oshodi, Lagos (FIIRO), has sacked Chima Igwe who has been involved in a certificate scandal.
Igwe had claimed to have obtained a PhD from the Universite d’Abomey-Calavi, Benin Republic, but he did not have a certificate to show for it
Igwe has been replaced with Agnes Asagbra as acting Director-General.
The former Director General of FIIRO was removed following the report of Independent Corrupt Practices Commission and other related offences (ICPC).
It was gathered that Igwe risen through the ranks in FIIRO based on a letter of attestation from the university.
Some officials of the institute had petitioned the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to probe Igwe.
