Adamawa and Taraba States in the North Eastern part of Nigeria have been discovered to have a well stocked with Bio Diesel.
This makes them major potential producer of the mineral resources.
The disclosure was made by Prof. Dike Nwako, a renowned scholar of Biochemistry.
Prof. Nwako revealed that, the duo states have Bio Diesel because of its deposit of large mass of Algae.
“Biodiesel or Biogas refers to a vegetable oil – or animal fat-based diesel fuel.
“Biodiesel can be sourced from Algae using advanced technology.
Algae are a diverse group of aquatic organisms that have the ability to conduct photosynthesis.”
Another expert, Dr Olakunbi while speaking to Channels TV emphasised that the process of producing Biodiesel from Algae is simple when the right technology is available.
She outlined the process of production thus:
“Identify the type of Algae, cultivate it to a large quantity and dry it through the process of Esterification, transform it into Aspartic acid.
“And Transform the Aspartic acid into Biodiesel,” she said.
Bio-diesel is the most valuable form of renewable energy that can be used directly in any existing, unmodified diesel engine.
Biodiesel burns cleaner than gasoline and also it contributes less to global warming.
