BREAKING: Israeli air strike eliminates Islamic Jihad commander in Gaza
The Israeli army said that Hussam Abu Harbeed, a top commander of the Islamic Jihad armed group, has been eliminated by an Israeli air raid in Gaza.
In a statement confirming it had killed Harbeed, the Israeli military said he “was behind several anti-tank missile terror attacks against Israeli civilians.”
However, despite international calls for an immediate halt of all hostilities, including from United Nations chief Antonio Guterres, Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has pledged that the offensive will continue “as needed to restore calm in the state of Israel”.
Hamas have been firing barrage of rockets towards Israel, hitting the city of Ashkelon in the early hours last week Friday.
At least six Israelis and one Indian national have been reportedly killed. The Israeli army said hundreds of rockets have been fired from Gaza towards various locations in Israel and they have added reinforcements near the enclave’s eastern lands.
