BREAKING: Ize-Iyamu, Audu emerge victorious at appeal court
The Court of Appeal sitting in Benin, the Edo State capital, has upheld the candidacy of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, and his running mate, Gani Audu, during the governorship election which took place on September 19, 2020, in the state.
A three-man panel of the appeal court, on Monday, set aside the judgment of the Edo High Court in Benin, which disqualified Pastor Ize-Iyamu, and Gani Audu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate from participating in the election.
The Court of Appeal judges unanimously held that there was no evidence of credentials’ forgery on the part of Audu.
They also declared the suit “statute-barred” since it was filed outside the 14-day constitutional threshold.
