Breaking Ramadan Fast With Buhari: Acting CJN Must Recuse Himself, Nigerians Cry Out

495

Nigerians from several quarters have decried the breaking of Ramadan Fast by the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad with President Muhammadu Buhari along with members of the Judiciary on Wednesday.

The bone of contention, it could be observed, is that Justice Tanko Muhammad will be presiding over the Presidential Election Petition between President Buhari and his opponents if and when it eventually gets to the Supreme Court.

Consequently, some concerned Nigerians have demanded that the Acting CJN must recuse himself as the action is so unethical.

One such observer is Alonge Ize-Iyamu Imade who wrote on his Facebook page:

“O GOD, Is this acceptable?

“The president hosting judiciary which includes the CJN to break Ramadan fast … This is same judiciary handling the Presidential Election Petition…

“Members of the judiciary and Nigerians, is this accepted?

“Does the acting CJN not know he is not meant to be seen around Buhari or anyone that is party to any case before him?

“USA Attorney General under Obama only greeted Bill Clinton at airport and she had to recuse herself from the investigation.

“Acting CJN must recuse himself as this action is so unethical.”

The presidency had, earlier in the day, released photos of President Buhari breaking Ramadan Fast with officials of the Judiciary.

The following photos by Sunday Aghaeze show:
