BREAKING: Senate Investigates Deji Adeyanju’s Re-Arrest By Police
Senate has mandated its Committee on Judiciary and Police to investigate re-arrest of Activist, Deji Adeyanju by Nigerian Police.
Decision of the Senate was sequel to point of order raised by Senator Dino Melaye who kicked against re-trial of Deji Adeyanju by the Nigerian Police on case happened 18 years ago.
According to Melaye:
“This is not acceptable to me; it should not be accepted by the Senate.
“It is time for the Senate to stand up and speak up in defense of Deji Adeyanju.
“We need to defend Deji Adeyanju, as we need to defend every Nigerian.”
He added that the case against Adeyanju was incident that happened 18 years ago in Kano state.
Seconding the motion, Senator Emmanuel Paulker urged the lawmakers to set up committee to quickly look into the matter.
Thereafter, Senate mandated Committees on Police and Judiciary to look into the matter and submit report for consideration.
