The Senate has, on Thursday, accused the presidency of masterminding the disappearance of the missing 2016 budget.
Buhari presents N6.08trn 2016 budget to NASS
The Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki has specifically accused the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly Matters, Senator Ita Solomon Enang of masterminding the disappearance of the missing 2016 budget.
Senator Saraki made the assertion rising from a closed-door meeting with the Senate committee tasked to investigate the disappearance of the budget.
The Senate President has raised alarm that there are two different versions of the 2016 Budget proposal in circulation.
Saraki said that Senator Enang is behind the stealing and replacing the budget with an entirely different copy of the budget after Senator Enang produced and was circulating a copy different from what he had.
Saraki who stated this after the closed door session which lasted for two hours said that Senator Ita Enang withdrew Mr. President version and submitted another version.
He said: “We came to a resolution that since we have two versions of the 2016 Budget, we will only accept the one presented by President Buhari.
“While the President submitted one, the Special Adviser presented another one, hence the reason for the investigation.”
