The Supreme Court has fixed July 5 to deliver Judgement on Osun Governorship election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as winner of the governorship election held in September.
But Ademola Adeleke, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), challenged this at the tribunal and was declared winner in March.
Oyetola however appealed the tribunal’s ruling in May and the appeal court in Abuja nullified the judgment of the election tribunal, ruling in favour of the governor.
At the proceedings, the appellants’ lawyer, Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN), urged the apex court to uphold his clients’ appeal, upturn the judgment of the Court of Appeal and affirm that of the Osun Election Petition Tribunal.
Adeleke had filed a case at the apex court challenging the ruling of the appellate court.
But, the Supreme Court on Monday after the submission of both Adeleke and Oyetoal lawyers , the Supreme court which was presided by Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN),Ibrahim Muhammad fixed the July 5 to deliver the Judgement.
