BREAKING: Supreme Court rejects application to review Zamfara case
The Supreme Court has rejected an application by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidates in the last elections in Zamfara State marked: SC/377/2019 asking it to review the judgement it passed affirming the barring of Zamfara candidates from the elections.
ElombahNews had reported on May 24, 2019, that the Supreme Court nullified the elections of all the candidates of all APC Zamfara candidates in the 2019 general elections.
Delivering a unanimous judgment of the five-man panel led by the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad, the apex court declared the first runners-up in the 2019 general elections in the state as the winners of all the posts earlier declared to have been won by the APC and their candidates.
Following the judgement, APC had approached the apex court through its lawyer, Robert Clarke (SAN), to make take a second look at the decision.
In a decision reached Monday morning, a five-man panel of the court, led by Justice Olabode Rhodes-Vivour, struck out the application and upheld its earlier decision.
