Breaking: Supreme Court Upholds Bulkachuwa’s Election
The Supreme Court has upheld the election of Adamu Bulkachuwa, husband of the Court of Appeal’s President, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa in the 2019 general election.
The apex court rejected a suit seeking to sack Bulkachuwa filed by one Usman Tuggar.
Tuggar was challenging the election of Bulkachuwa to represent Bauchi North senatorial district on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Senate.
A five-man panel of the apex court, in a judgment, dismissed the appeal on Monday.
Reading the judgment, Justice John Okoro, dismissed the appeal against the judgment of the Court of Appeal, Abuja delivered on June 11, 2019.
The appeal court had in turn upheld an earlier judgment of the Federal High Court, Abuja, which ruled that the suit was statute barred.
According to the court, the appellants filed the suit outside the 14 days allows by the Constitution.
