BREAKING: Tribunal Okays Atiku/PDP To Serve APC, Buhari Through Alternative Means
The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja granted the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar leave for substituted service on the All Progressives Congress [APC]) and its candidate, President Muhammadu Buhari.
The three-man panel, led by Justice Abdul Aboki, granted the application on Wednesday.
Atiku’s counsel, Chris Uche [SAN] had asked the court for leave for substituted service on the respondents in a motion ex parte dated March 2, 2019.
According to him, all efforts to serve the respondents have proved abortive.
He noted, however, that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had been served.
The plaintiffs are challenging the outcome of the 2019 presidential election over alleged massive rigging, malpractices and substantial non-compliance with the electoral laws.
They also claimed that the APC candidate, President Buhari, is not qualified to run ab initio haven given false information about his education qualification.
Atiku and PDP, therefore, prayed the Tribunal to declare its candidate winner of the February 23 presidential election.
