Buhari, a converted democrat as a metaphor
By Odumodu Gbulagu
I have never seen anywhere in the world where a known military dictator came back to power as democratically elected President. I have never seen where a man who overthrew a democratically elected government in a military coup came back christened “converted democrat”.
How can a sane person expect a man as sadistic and nepotistic as Muhammadu Buhari to perform wonders? A terrorist sympathizer who was ready to spill the blood of humans if he did not win elections!
Would someone who has regard for human life describe his fellow countrymen as dogs and baboons? An unpatriotic man who would rather vote for a man from another country in place of his countryman because he hates the person’s tribe.
This is the same man in whose military dictatorship that Nigeria went into recession and there was austerity measure.
Has he not repeated the same thing twice as “converted democrat”? What is the difference between his dictatorship decree 4 and his numerous bans today?
Is it not the same man that kidnapped Umaru Dikko and put him in a crate to Nigeria? The same that has continued to jail the leader of Shiites El Zakzaky for over 2000 days and counting?
Has Dasuki been found guilty? Which of his political prisoners has he ever afforded fair hearing?
A man who pardoned and rehabilitated terrorists, yet ceaselessly mow down peaceful protesters.
A man who would do anything in his power to absolve Fulani herdsmen of killing innocent Nigerians, like when he told Benue people to accommodate their brothers, instead of condemning the atrocities committed by his ilk.
How on earth in this 21st century democracy would his advisers say that Nigeria needs “iron and steel” hands?
How on earth would a sane man ban the use of Twitter in a tech-driven era because his genocidal tweets were deleted? He will soon ban Facebook and other social media sites.
The problem with Nigeria, and especially the youths is that we let sentiment becloud our senses of reasoning, and we never pay attention to history. A leopard never changes its spots.
Even if Buhari is christened “Founder of democracy”, his evil heart and tendencies will never change. It’s like wearing a clean cloth on a very dirty body. Hope you have all seen the effects of NEPA bill over WAEC certificate?
I’m happy that we are all suffering together in this administration, after those who called us wailers and accused of hating the man were disappointed. Those who called Goodluck Jonathan a weakling is now tasting the might of a strong Buhari.
For all those who repackaged the monster and sold to the people as a Saint, it must get to their turn. The monster they raised MUST consume them.
This is just the beginning! When he must have finished with Nigeria, you will all understand the freedom you enjoyed under Jonathan.
