Buhari Appoints Ex-CBN Deputy Gov. As FERMA Chairman
President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Tunde Lemo, as Chairman of the Federal Emergency Road Maintenance Agency [FERMA].
This was announced by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki in letter forwarded to the Senate by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Mr President also appointed a new managing director and six members of the board of FERMA.
However, there was brouhaha on the appointments as the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu rose on a Constitutional Point of Order calling the attention of the Senate to the manner at which the government is making appointments to favour only a section of the country which is contrary to the Federal Character.
The point of order led to the division between Senators of All Progressive Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senators.
But, the Senate called the Senate to order and directed Senate Committee on Federal Character to present report on the appointments made so far by Mr. President.
