There are time to play politics while it is always imperative to ensure that sound and right policy is the bastion of good government.
In the modern democracies, political party affiliation asides and partisan policies, there are certain policy in the general interest of the nation and the world at large that must stay irrespective of who is in the saddle.
The Western Sahara conflict or Polisario Front dispute for independence is an ongoing conflict between the Polisario Front of the Sahrawi people and the kingdom of Morocco.
The conflict is a continuation of the past insurgency by Polisario against the Spanish colonial forces in 1973–75 and the subsequent Western Sahara War between the Polisario and Morocco (1975–91).
Today the conflict is dominated by unarmed civil campaigns of the Polisario Front and their self-proclaimed SADR state to gain fully recognized independence for Western Sahara.
Nigeria from time immemorial has continuously show support for Polisario (Western Sahara), which Morocco has been forcefully occupying as a colonial power due to her richness in phosphate which made most of the leaders of Polisario to be in exile and thousands of the people living in refugee camps abroad.
It is an open secret that Morocco approached and wooed Candidate Buhari last year during the build up to the general election with the expectation that President Buhari will support their quest to annex Polisario.
However, President Buhari in keeping alive Nigeria’s progressive belief since the day of General Murtala Muhammed regime and our quest of egalitarian society in Africa has thrown his support behind Polisario and therefore deserve our salutation and support for saying no to that, internal or external colonization in the Africa continent.

Former National Secretary, Labour Party &
Chairman, Egalitarian Mission, Africa
