President Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice, Yemi Osinbajo are under serious attack after the both blatantly failed to attend the funeral of the late army chief, Major General Attahiru and other military officers who died yesterday in a fatal air crash.
Nigerians from all walks of life attacked president Muhammadu Buhari and his vice, Yemi Osinbajo for snubbing the funeral of these gallant officers who died while serving the nation.
Some Nigerian have described the action of the president and his vice as “unpatriotic and wicked.”
Reacting to the absence of Buhari and his vice, the convener of Concerned Nigerians, Adeyanju Deji said it is unfortunate that president Buhari and his vice could not attend the burial of Attahiru at the National cemetery which is about 15 minutes drive from the presidential villa.
He said, “A serving COAS died on duty with 3 other top Generals + other officers & the president or the Vice could not attend their burial at the National Cemetery that is 15mins drive from the Villa. Not fair at all.”
However, Reno Omokri, former media aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan also lambasted Buhari and his vice, Osinbajo for their absence.
He said General Muhammadu Buhari described his late Chief of Army Staff, General Ibrahim Attahiru, a “hero”, but could not attend his 30 minute funeral, which was just 15 miles from Aso Rock, but the same Buhari travelled 4000 miles to Paris for 4 days.
He also attacked Yemi Osinbajo for not attending the burial. He said even Professor Yemi Osinbajo did not attend, yet Osinbajo last week traveled 2500 miles to Kampala for a presidential inauguration.
Reno in statement said how will anyone die for Nigeria with such attitude shown by Buhari and Osinbajo.
He said, “This is then President Goodluck Jonathan attending the funeral of the late General Andrew Azazi, who died in a helicopter crash on December 15, 2012, after serving Nigeria as National Security Adviser. Jonathan cleared his schedule, and traveled 500 miles to attend this funeral.
“General Muhammadu Buhari called his late Chief of Army Staff, General Ibrahim Attahiru, a “hero”, but Buhari did not attend his 30 minute funeral, which was just 15 miles from Aso Rock.
“Yet, the same Buhari travelled 4000 miles to Paris for 4 days. Even his deputy, Professor Yemi Osinbajo did not attend, yet Osinbajo last week traveled 2500 miles to Kampala. At this rate, why will anyone then want to die for Nigeria?”
