The Senate has received letter from President Muhammadu Buhari for the presentation of the 2016 Budget.
President Buhari will present the Budget to a Joint Session of the National Assembly [NASS] on Tuesday, December 22, 2015.
In another development, today, the Senate considered a Bill on the establishment of a North-East Development Commission.
If implemented, this Commission is meant to restore and rebuild the areas devastated by insurgency in the North-East.
The Bill was sponsored by Senate Majority Leader, Ali Ndume, and all the North East Senators.
According to Senate president, Bukola Saraki, this piece of legislation is important for the reconstruction of the North East.
It is also necessary to maintain the stability of Nigeria after the insurgency that has ravaged the North East.
Yesterday, the Senate received the presentation of the Report of the Joint Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions and Information Communication Technology (ICT) & Cybercrime on the Electronic Transaction Bill.
The Senate also considered a Bill for an Act to Amend the Agricultural Credit Guarantee Scheme Fund Act to promote Commercial Agricultural Credit Guarantee Scheme Fund Act to promote Commercial Agriculture in Nigeria.
This bill will help to ensure credit support for the production, storage, processing of target commodities, market and enterprise development, and provide concessionary funding for Agriculture.
