Buhari’s driver—Sa’idu Afaka finally dies in suspicious circumstance, DSS in denial
The official driver of President Muhammadu Buhari—Staff Sergeant Sa’idu Afaka has finally died in suspicious circumstance.
Reports said that he died whilst still under torture in a secret dungeon of the Department of State Services (DSS).
Recall that ElombahNews reported on March 24, 2021, that the President’s driver was recently detained by DSS after tricking his principal to sign a fraudulent document to make millions of naira.
A source in the Presidency disclosed how the President’s driver capitalised on the president’s dementia and pulled off a fraud on him running into million of Naira.
According to the report, Afaka was consequently detained by DSS after tricking his principal to sign the fraudulent document.
SaharaReporters learnt that the whole affair was hushed up by the Presidency, which did not want another scandal in the press.
Reacting in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Department of State Services, Dr Peter Afunanya, said the agency did not detain or torture the late Buhari’s official driver.
Denying it tortured Afaka, DSS stated: “The Department of State Services (DSS) denies the misleading news by Saharareporters that it tortured Sa’idu Afaka, the President’s official driver to death.
“While the said driver was never arrested or detained by the Service, it is a known fact that it does not torture suspects.
“It’s suspect handling method is usually in compliance with the tenets of criminal justice administration system and democracy.
“It may be recalled that the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, had on 6th April, 2021 announced the passing of Afaka after a prolonged illness as well as the condolences of the President to his family.
“The public should, therefore, disregard the fake news spewed by the online platform.”
Another source said that he died as a result of poor health services at a local health facility.
An analyst to ElombahNews, however, found fault with the later report noting that President Buhari, himself, is enjoying world class, impeccable health service in London where he is currently holidaying.
The analyst, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said:
“Why can’t he die of lack of good medical assistant, when he was alive, he was busy playing good man, to please those who don’t believe that he was a human being like them.
“Now, those who only called him good man, while alive, abandoned him to die the death he deserves not to die as a good man who returned a bag filled with our stolen hard currencies abandoned in the airport by the thieves in politics.
“Well, it is good his good deeds are now being remembered at his death, because that is all we are known for, to sing praises for the dead we might have abandoned to die.”
