Change the colours of your vehicles, Civil Defence tells Onitsha vigilante

The Anambra State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)  has told the Onitsha Ado Community Vigilante Unit to change the colours of their vehicles which bears similarities with NSCDC colours.

This was contained in an NSCDC Anambra State Command bulletin signed by the Commandant of NSCDC Anambra State Command, David  Bille.

The bulletin, titled “RE: Launching/presentation of security vehicles to Onitsha Ado Community Vigilante Unit“, reads:

Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe presenting vehicles to Onitsha Ado Vigilante Network on Saturday 20th March, 2021, at Ime-Obi Eze Onitsha
Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe presenting vehicles to Onitsha Ado Vigilante Network on Saturday 20th March, 2021, at Ime-Obi Eze Onitsha

“The attention of the Anambra State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC,  has been drawn to the  crested vehicles painted in Civil Defence Colours presented to Onitsha Ado Vigilante Network on Saturday 20th March, 2021, at Ime-Obi Eze Onitsha during the launching/ commissioning of the said Vigilante.

The Corps while  appreciating Onitsha Community for taking a bold step in complimenting the functions of  Federal Security Agencies in the fight against Crimes and Criminality in the State,  urges the Community to  as a matter of urgency effect a change of  colours on the said  vehicles to avoid clash of interest.

The Command wonders why the initiators of the said Vigilante Network could not have known that white, red and black colours are being used by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps before unveiling the same colours for the Vigilante Network group to the Public despite drawing the attention of the Transition Committee Chairman on the colour on the vehicles before public presentation.

The Corps wishes to commend the effort of the Transition Committee Chairman and urge him once again to please effect correction on the said vehicles colours to avoid identity crisis.”
