A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State has granted an interim injunction restraining the deposed national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ali Modu Sherrif from parading himself as national chairman of the party.
It also restricted Professor Adewale Oladipo from acting as party officer.
The two were removed from office at the PDP National Convention held on Saturday May 21, 2016, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
This is no doubt collusion of confusion bearing in mind earlier report by Elombah.com.
In an earlier news bulletin, Elombah.com had reported that a Federal High Court in Lagos had declared as invalid the caretaker committee constituted over the weekend by PDP.
The caretaker committee was meant to take over the affairs of the PDP from its acting National Chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff.
However, in this latest report, the Port Harcourt High Court has granted an interim injunction upholding the Convention and restraining Senator Modu Sherrif and Professor Oladipo.
The national caretaker committee of the PDP headed by Senator Ahmed Maikarfi, former governor of Kaduna State, also got further boost.
It secured an order of the court mandating the Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC] to recognise it.
INEC is to recognise it in all matters pertaining to the conduct of primary elections for political offices and the submission of the PDP List of candidates.
The list will affect any elections to be conducted by INEC pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on notice.
With the latest injunctions, observers will wait to see the legal fireworks that will no doubt ensue.
