Chidinma, Super TV CEO—Usifo’s alleged killer appears in court
The Lagos State Police Command has arraigned Chidinma Ojukwu, the prime suspect in the murder of the Chief Executive Officer of Super TV, Usifo Ataga, before Yaba Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
21-year-old Ojukwu, a student of the University of Lagos, was presented on Monday while the Police applied for an order for her remand.
Meanwhile, her relatives and acquaintances, including her sister, were seen in courtroom one, awaiting for the beginning of proceedings.
It could be recalled that Chidinma was arrested and paraded by the police on June 23 following the brutal murder of 50-year-old Ataga with whom she had been in a romantic relationship.
She claimed that she was having fun with Ataga when an argument broke out and she stabbed him twice.
She claimed her action was influenced by hard drugs and smoking and pleaded for leniency.
Chidinma, however, made a U-Turn on July 13, 2021 during an interview with Crime Fighter TV, a police sponsored programme.
She claimed that she walked into the room from an errand and found Ataga lifeless in a pool of blood with the apartment in shambles.
The defendant said that her earlier submission was made under duress, insisting someone else committed the crime in her absence.
