Chinese Community in Lagos awards scholarships to 60 students

Some sixty students from different schools have benefitted from scholarships awarded by the Chinese community in Lagos, in partnership with Huaxing Arts Troupe.

The Chairman of the Chinese Community in Lagos, Mr. Eric Ni, flanked by the Director of Kiddies Vision and Young Ministers Competition, Mrs Nnenna Umeohia, presented the scholarships to the students on Thursday.

According to Mr. Ni, the scholarships were part of activities to mark the 2020 Christmas and New Year Party for the children.

The programme, he said, is to promote the Chinese Language and culture among Nigerian students, and also to develop stronger ties with their host community.

Mr. Ni, said: “This is to promote the cultures of the two countries among students, as we celebrate Christmas with the students.

“We find it necessary to award scholarships to most brilliant Nigerian students and to ensure the continuation of the good relationship between China and Nigeria.

“Since we all stay and work in Nigeria, we must continue to have a better environment, helping each other, with a happy place for everyone.”

On her part, the Director of Kiddies Vision and Young Ministers Competition, Mrs. Nnenna Umeohia thanked the Chinese community.

She promised that her group will always collaborate with the Chinese community to promote values among the hosts and the visitors.
