Congratulations Akeredolu, we must win this election big time

Had Abraham snatched the victory it would have caused a division within the APC fold in Ondo State as many would have been accusing Asiwaju of imposition.

I thank God Ondo Governorship Primaries have come and gone and I appreciate GOD that Rotimi Akeredolu won.

Had Abraham snatched the victory it would have caused a division within the APC fold in Ondo State as many would have been accusing Asiwaju of imposition.

I was a member of the Screening Committee led by HE Ajimobi of Oyo State that screened the 24 Aspirants.

Gov played a fast one by asking each of the 24 Aspirants after screening to name two or three persons amongst them who they can be trusted with the governorship of Ondo assuming the aspirant is to step aside:

1 Abraham was mentioned 12 times

2. Oke was mentioned 12 times

3: Akeredolu was mentioned 10 times

4. Boroffice was mentioned 8 times

5. Alasoadura was mentioned 4 times, etc.

In the primaries proper Akeredolu scored 669 votes

Abraham scored 635 votes

Oke scored 583 votes

Boroffice scored 471 votes

Alasoadura got 200 plus

There are 2744 delegates.

You can see that these are the five outstanding candidates during the screening exercise and during the primaries proper and one person has to emerge and Aketi has emerged.

Now all APC members and other Aspirants must close ranks and work for the Party so as to dislodge PDP in Ondo State.

This is not the time for rhetoric as we saw in Akeredolu’s interview in the Punch of yesterday Sept. 3 2016 that our National Leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu [BAT] will be shocked by the outcome of the primaries.

That statement was totally uncalled even if he knew he is going to pick the ticket, after all Aketi was handpicked in 2012 by the same leader.

Again Senator Alasoadura outburst after the emergence of Aketi that Ondo State has been saved from Asiwaju BAT was unfortunate, regrettable and totally primitive.

Yes, Aketi has picked the ticket and picking the ticket is not the same thing as winning the election.

We must set aside these dangerous effusions and work as a team to win the elections. It is not victory yet.

In this keenly contested exercise the winner must exhibit maturity and humble in victory.

Asiwaju has the right to support any candidate and he rightly said so. May we not feel that this is the time to get at Asiwaju as it could backfire.

If out of annoyance you throw your cap away a mad person can pick it and use it forever.

Yoruba will say: eniti omo Oba lofi Oba sere!
