Court Approves Suit Against Abaribe, Fani-Kayode, Ors, Over Kanu’s Escape
The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has approved the suit seeking to compel the Nigerian Police and the Department of State Security [DSS] to prosecute Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe, Femi Fani-Kayode, Tochukwu Uchendu, Emmanuel Shallom Ben, Emmanuel Kanu, Uchechi Kanu, Ifeanyi Ejiofor and a host of others.
ElombahNews had, on November 2, reported that a lawyer, Barrister Isaiah Agidi Ayugu has sought an order of mandamus to compel the police and DSS from the Court to prosecute the affected persons over the escape of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra [IPOB], Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, from Nigeria.
Justice John Tsoho granted leave to the plaintiff to commence the suit and ordered the suit to be served on the defendants – the DSS, its Director-General, the police and the Inspector-General of Police.
He fixed November 22 for the hearing of the suit.
Senator Abaribe, it could be recalled, stood surety for the bail granted Kanu last year alongside Tochukwu Uchendu, and Emmanuel Shallom Ben.
Kanu however escaped from the country after security operatives stormed his country home in Umuahia, Abia State, killing at least 26 persons.
