Court revokes Maina’s son’s bail, orders his arrest, summons Surety [update]
A Federal High Court in Abuja has revoked the bail granted to Faisal Maina, the son of the former Chairman of the Pension Reform Tasks Team (PRTT), Abdulrasheed Maina, on Tuesday.
The court also issued bench warrant for his arrest and summoned his surety, Hon. Umar Sani Dan Galadima, representing Kaura Namoda Federal Constituency of Zamfara State.
Faisal is being prosecuted for money laundering related offence, possession of illegal firearm, and obstruction of justice by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Justice Okon Abang granted an oral application by the prosecuting counsel, Mohamed Abubakar for the revocation of Faisal’s bail.
He therefore, ordered his arrest for failing to attend trials.
Presenting the oral application, the prosecuting counsel pointed out that Faisal has not been attending court for his trial against the undertaking by his surety, Sani Dan Galadima.
Ruling, the presiding judge granted the prosecutor’s request.
He issued summons on Dan Galadima to show cause why he should not forfeit the N60 million bail bond he undertook in case Faisal jumps bail.
The judge ordered the lawmaker to appear before the court on Wednesday, November 25.
Failure to do so, an arrest order will be issued against him.
The case was adjourned till Wednesday, November 25 for continuation of trial.
