Covid-19: Former President Bush Adviser donates cash, rice in Anambra

Former Special Adviser on Science and Technology to former President George W. Bush of United States of America, High Chief Engr. Emeka Ken Nwabueze, MFR, (Ajie Okpala Ogidi) has joined other well meaning people of Anambra State to donate money and rice to help the fight against Covid- 19 in the State.
Nwabueze donated N1 million to State Government and 1000 (10kg) bags of rice to six communities namely Ogidi, Atani, Aguleri, Nibo, Mbaukwu and Ogbunike respectively
It will be recalled that since the State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano announced the closure of markets and other businesses in the State two weeks ago, many illustrious sons of the State have continued to make donation of money, rice, salt, tomatoes and cooking oil among other items to the State Government and communities to cushion the effect of lockdown in the State and curtail the possible spread of Coronavirus pandemic.
Nwabueze who is the chairman of a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) known as United For Zero Violence (UZV) Foundation made the donation through the Anambra State branch of UZV. Speaking on the donation online, Nwabueze said, “Dear family and friends, UZV Foundation will be distributing 1000 bags of rice to the communities in Anambra State as part of effort to assist government and communities during the lockdown. The rice will be delivered to the traditional rulers for onward distribution to the people”
The ex Adviser to ex President George W, Bush added “Your Excellency, the Executive Governor of Anambra State Chief Willie Obiano, my humble contribution to the efforts being made by Anambra State against the spread of Covid -19, N1 million cash transfer and 1000 (10kg) bags of rice to six communities namely Ogidi, Atani, Aguleri, Nibo, Mbaukwu and Ogbunike. Ndi Anambra stay safe, stay indoors and God bless you all”
Presenting the rice to the traditional rulers of the above listed communities, the coordinator of USV Foundation in Anambra State, Comrade Ikechukwu Ikele stated that the 1000 bags rice will be shared among the communities as listed by the Chairman with 400 bags going to Ogidi, while Ogbunike gets 200 bags and others such as Atani, Aguleri, Nibo and Mbaukwu going home with 100 bags each.
The traditional rulers who were accompanied by their subjects received the rice with joy praying that God will reward the benefactor in hundredfold. The traditional ruler of Nibo, Igwe MC Ngene (Ezeike Nibo) said “for remembering Nibo at this point in time, I will assure you that the good heart of my people will continue to follow you, we will continue to pray for your good health, property, blessing to your family and long life”
Also speaking the traditional ruler of Ogidi, Igwe Alex Onyido (Ezechuamagha) who was accompanied by the President General of Ogidi town union Chief Jideofor Chuka Onubogu and the leader of Ogidi Women fold, Professor Amaka Okeke commended Nwabueze for deeming it right enough to donate to the State Government and communities noting that what he has done shows that he has the interest of Ogidi and Anambra State in heart.
“Nwabueze is one among the illustrious sons that I have in Ogidi, so I know him very well. I know he is ever interested in contributing to the well being and survival of Ogidi, Ndi Anambra State generally and what he has done by donating money to the State Government and bringing rice to Ogid and other communities to enable us cushion the effect of lockdown against the spread of Coronavirus is an evidence of his interest for our well being and survival, may God continue to bless him in abundance,” Igwe Onyido added.
