COVID-19 makes us miss our normal lives – Children
Some children in Lagos, on Thursday, said that COVID-19 made them missed their normal lives.
They spoke at a panel of discussion organised by the Children Protection Network (CPN) Lagos chapter.
They said that they missed going out.
Adebolu Adejobi said that he missed going to church and school, mingling with friends and going for treatment in the hospital.
Adejobi said that COVID-19 restricted all social gatherings introduced a nose mask and frequent washing of hands.
He also said that children experienced child abuse more than before during lockdown against the pandemic.
Also, Joseph Anifowoshe, said that children were abused during the lockdown and that this led to emotional and mental imbalance.
Anifowoshe said that child abuse was any form of maltreatment from an adult towards a child.
He said that child abuse could be emotional, physical, spiritual and mental abuse.
He said that killing of self-esteem through maltreatment and sending other people’s children on an errand while yours enjoy their leisure was also a form of child abuse.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 33 children were in attendance at the CPN Children’s Day celebration.
The theme of the celebration was “Unite to Reverse the Impact of COVID-19 Pandemic on Children”
