Crisis Hits Zamfara As Two Commissioners & SA Resign

Barely two weeks after being sworn in, the Commissioners for Education, Alhaji Jamilu Zanna, and Bilyaminu Shinkafi of the Ministry of Higher Education have resigned their appointments in Zamfara State.

Also resigned his appointment was a Special Adviser on Comprehensive Agricultural Revolution Programme, Alhaji Sambo Marafa, a younger brother to the leader of G8 members, Alhaji Kabiru Marafa.

The trio announced their resignation while briefing newsmen on Saturday.

Speaking on his choice to leave the young cabinet, Alhaji Zanna said:

“I am not impressed with the style of leadership of the present administration. I am not impressed at all with how the government is being run.”

He explained that as the Campaign Director of Matawalle Campaign Organization, none of his members were given any appointment, as such, he decided to reject the offer to serve in the Governor’s cabinet to avoid embarrassment in the future.

“Another reason that made me resign is that, when I was sick and travelled to India for medical treatment, where I spent 40 days, the Governor never called me to know about my condition. So, I feel that I can’t serve in his cabinet,” he added.

Shinkafi resigned his appointment after being appointed by the President Muhammadu Buhari as a member of the National Assembly Commission.

On his part, the Special Adviser on Comprehensive Agricultural Revolution Programme explained that he resigned in order to concentrate on his business.

The state government under the leadership of the state governor, Ambassador Bello Matawalle, is yet to react to the development.
