*Says, “I have a lot to tell Nigerians”
I love today’s Nigeria. It’s the Nigeria of my dream; a Nigeria where the law is after those who spite it. It does not matter whether they are North or South, Muslim or Christian, rich or poor. It was President Buhari that said he was not after anyone but that people should only fear the consequences of their actions. That famous quote is becoming a reality in our nation.
The level of looting involving the former National Security Adviser, Col. Dasuki (Rtd) sent everyone into a fit of shock, anger and then outrage. While Nigerians are fuming with rage, the Wailing Wailers have been shocked into silence. The social media is abuzz with speculations that this man could be one of the sponsors of Boko Haram. We don’t know for sure.
As the authorities work towards his arrest, Dasuki has spoken out. He has said three important things.
1. He was ready to face trials.
2. He has a lot to tell Nigerians.
3. He did not act alone
He went on to say that he did nothing that the ex-President Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan did not approve. Interesting! Surprisingly? No! Expected? Very much so. He has implicated the former president.
We are all united in condemning the looting spree of Sambo Dasuki. We are all standing together as Nigerians to bring him to justice. My hope is that when President Jonathan’s collaborative actions in this case cause him to be arraigned, we all, Nigerians and Wailing Wailers alike, will still be united in our condemnation of his deeds while in office.
Nigerians are now learning how their regional leaders underdeveloped them. Dasuki, a northerner, looted funds meant to protect Nigerians, mostly Northerners, from the murderous Boko Haram.
It did not bother him that lives were being decapitated. That survivors were scarred. That many of his own people were living as refugees having lost their ancestral homes.
Jonathan as president of Nigeria, stood by while a few militants grew stupendously wealthy from the funds earmarked for the development of his immediate constituency, the Niger Delta.
It did not bother him that his people are some of the poorest and needed to be pulled out of poverty. He did not give a damn that his people’s environment was causing them ill health and therefore, needed attention.
You see, Dasuki and Jonathan are part of the evil vampire leadership. They both helped to under-develop their local areas. Dasuki is now being roundly vilified. I hope Nigerians, Wailing Wailers and all, will still stand together when this cleansing involves Jonathan and/or Diezani Alison-Madueke.
