An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Delta State, Chief Andrew Orugbo has decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) along with about 5,000 supporters.
Chief Orugbo was received on Saturday to PDP by the state governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, along with the state PDP Chairman, Chief Kingsley Esiso.
Governor Okowa and other top politicians received them at a well-attended rally held at Ovwian, Udu Local Government Area of Delta State
Speaking at event, Okowa expressed confidence that the PDP will win with large margin in the 2019 general elections.
He said the doors of the PDP were open to the few remaining members of the opposition political parties, noting that PDP is positioned to win in the 25 local government areas of the state.
His words: “What we hear from the opposition is that they have the security apparatus, but, in democracy, it is the people who have their voters cards that determine the winners in elections and the PDP will win with great margin in the elections.
“Protect your voters card, don’t be intimidated, with our voters cards, we will get victory, keep working in unity, let us do everything together as members of the PDP family, we don’t discriminate and I welcome all of you who have returned to your home, the PDP.”
Chief Orugbo, who was a former Commissioner in Delta State, said that APC had self-inflicted confusion and cannot win any election in the state.
