Press Release – The attention of the United Progressive Party National Working Committee has been drawn to an advertisement in Thisday Newspaper of 29th October 2015, by Inter-Party Advisory Council of Nigeria (IPAC)) Rivers State Chapter in which the council passed a vote of confidence in Governor Nyesom Wike.
The Council also rejected the judgement of the Rivers State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal which nullified Chief Wike’s mandate and advised the immediate past Governor of the State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi to desist from what it called “calculated effort to mortgage Rivers State and cause chaos”.
The UPP NWC is embarrassed and scandalized by the unauthorized use of the party’s name in the advertisement by the Rivers State Chairman, Rev. Bisi Odeta.
In view of this despicable anti-party conduct, the National Working Committee of our great party has suspended Rev Odeta with immediate effect and referred him to the Party Disciplinary Committee, to undergo the necessary process in accordance with the clear provisions of UPP constitution registered with INEC.
The United progressive Party has confidence in the nation’s Judiciary as the last hope of all aggrieved people. The party reiterates its strict adherence to democratic ethics, due process and rule of all.

Chief Ogbuehi Dike
