Down the Rabbit Hole: IPOB to Carry Arms for Self-Defense

100

“If we are emotional about the plight of Igbo, who can blame us but emotion must be tampered with cold and calculating strategy where this revolution is concerned or we will definitely loose – God Forbid!”

“Africa Business World has received unverified reports that IPOB members may be in the process of a making a decision to carry arms for self-defense. According to News Reports from Gist Arena Nigeria, “Members of the pro-Biafra group, Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, have resolved to carry arms from Wednesday February 17, 2016, ‘in self-defence’. The group said in a release yesterday in Umuahia by its spokesperson, Emma Nmezu, that failure to carry arms had exposed its members to attacks and killings by security agents…”

Any rational unbiased observer who has taken time to listen to some of the strident broadcasts of ‘Radio Biafra’ from its inception would have foretold that the IPOB flaying strategy-less playing to the gallery methodology that has now morphed to an unconvincingly so-called peaceful strategy since the arrest of its leader, Maazi Kanu, would eventually degenerated to a half hazard armed struggle.

“Which would be easier, sit with my hands folded and say nothing while our young men and women throw away their lives when the goal can be achieved without loss of lives?

“Which would be easier sit back and watch while those who have crowned themselves leaders of Igbo continue to use Igbo as they had done for the past thirty years because I would make enemies by standing on the truth?

“If my making legions of enemies will save even one of our brethren from throwing away their lives when it can be prevented, bring it on!

“If we are emotional about the plight of Igbo, who can blame us but emotion must be tampered with cold and calculating strategy where this revolution is concerned or we will definitely loose – God Forbid! In fact where this struggle is concerned emotions must not play a part.”

Subject: Setting the record straight!

This is precisely what happens when we join a movement; refuse to take time and study what is on the ground, the Bible of the movement,  ‘The Leadership Series by Ekwe Nche Organization’: http://magazine.biafranigeriaworld.com/ekwenche/ekwencheleadershipseries.html; even as we refuse to listen to the experts in the field as we crown ourselves Gboru-Gboru in contravention to the Igbo way of life since Chukwu Abiama is the only Gboru-Gboru Igbo recognize; forgetting that we are mere spokespersons and that the lives of our brethren are not pawns to be sacrificed to our inordinate ambition.

“Eight years ago, when we embarked on this most important journey to actualize Biafara, since Igbo had just survived near extermination, it would have been foolhardy to ask Igbo to support an armed struggle. The only condition we felt to get Igbo to even listen to any form of reason and hopefully get Igbo to come on board was to strongly suggest that the struggle would be PEACEFUL, this was also in line with my belief, since I have seen enough death and was not ready to contribute to the death of even one more person. I also understood that when this Movement became violent, this would signal to me that my job was done and imply that it was time to call it quits, wash my hands of the affair, not look back and move on. If I cannot give life, why should I take it?

Does it then mean that this movement should never become violent if that is the only way forward?

Far from it, but it is important that some conditions be set and implemented before we ask any of our brethren to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Allow me to point out that even at present, more than thirty years since the end of the Biafra/Nigeria war, the Biafran veterans who gave their limbs (body parts) so that Igbo might live continue to beg, an abomination. It is also important that we ask what provisions we have made for the families of our brethren who have lost their lives since the inception of the New Biafara Movement.

Until we put our money where our mouth is and make provisions for the veterans who gave their body parts that Igbo might live, for the families of those that have made the ultimate sacrifice (New Biafara), for those that might make the ultimate sacrifice, I for one will be amongst those completely and totally opposed to violence.

Hopefully if and when that time ever comes, Igbo would have come together as one, Igbo Diaspora would finally start playing her part, provisions would have been put in place for the families of those that have and will make the ultimate sacrifice, and this time Igbo would have the right leadership in place — Collective Leadership.

I do understand and continue to be reminded that, you have to spill blood for freedom, but the way I see it, enough blood has been shed, since the blood of THREE MILLION and counting of our brethren have already been shed, and more importantly, this revolution belongs to YAH, it is YAH’s fight and we are just tools in His/Her hand — All Praise and Glory to the Mighty Yah! If YAH has ordained that we be free and if it is His/Her will that it be peaceful, no power on earth or in heaven can prevent it. And if we refuse to do Yah’s work, Yah will bring in others to do what has to be done!”

The Igbo way: Retracing our steps!

We are now presented with a new condition that is tantamount to playing into the hands of the born-to-rule:

“Members of the pro-Biafra group, Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, have resolved to carry arms from Wednesday February 17, 2016, ‘in self-defence’. The group said in a release yesterday in Umuahia by its spokesperson, Emma Nmezu, that failure to carry arms had exposed its members to attacks and killings by security agents…”  – Africa Business World

The implication of this not thought out statement is immense and has caused a great dis-service to the movement. It is important that this statement be walked back forthwith. The born-to-rule and its abominable coalition must not be given the excuse to go on a killing spree.

Diaspora

The good news is that our brethren in Diaspora are finally beginning to walk the talk. Our brethren in the developed world are finally becoming more visible, we salute them.

As we are aware IPOB has contacted a very credible lawyer that is presenting our case against those who committed crimes against humanity and/or war crimes in the Hague.  Less known are two other groups, working independently that are pursuing the same path.

If those at home want to help, call or contact your relatives in Diaspora and demand that they step up to the plate and begin to play a part.

May Chukwu Abiama (The Reveler of ALL Knowledge) continue to strengthen our hands.
