Exactly two years in office as the governor of Anambra State, Dr. Willie Obiano will “step aside’ for his wife, Ebelechukwu, to take over reins of power.

The change of power is not unconnected with the continued failure of the governor to maintain the tempo under two years in office.

It was gathered that the governor has continue to face opposition in the manner he is governing the State to the point that stakeholders in the State are routing for a successor, using his predecessor, Chief Peter Obi as an warhead.

To take up the gauntlet, Obi has joined the Anambra Central Senatorial District, hoping to win the ticket and become the PDP leader in the  State to  flush Obiano out of power.

With Obi joining the race, Victor Umeh’s nunc dimities has already been sang as mass of opposition has swelled up against his aspiration arising from the ‘sins’ of the past.

However, Obi is invited to partake in the contest to make it a manly contest but he is not liel;y to win as nemesis will follow him like Umeh..

According to an insider, Obi was majorly in the scheme to ensure that INEC did not take step to conduct the rerun within 90 days as ordered by the Court of Appeal in Enugu until it expired.

Part of the INEC game to scuttle the rerun election is not  to release list of candidates for the election, failure to print the electoral materials with pictures and logo of political parties,   reluctant to recruit adhoc staff to join INEC staff for the rerun election and  failure to call a stakeholders meeting until March 5, 2016, the last date of the 90-day rerun exercise on which day the court order including PDP and stopping the rerun election.

Already, Obi’s posters have flooded the State while Umeh’s posters are being torn in the stead.

Infact, an ally of governor Obiano said Obi will be cooling off in a cell arising from ‘mystery’  EFCC raid during the election if he dares top contest.

The fear of Obi is as a result of the belief that he has vowed to teach Obiano a big lesson of his life by making sure that he (Obiano) is flushed out of power.

It was gathered that the phase first of Obi’s plan after winning the election is to induce the members of the House of Assembly to impeach Obiano.

Our investigation revealed that Andy Uba is fingered ion having gotten the law makers to list out impeachable offences against the governor few months ago.

Sources close to our team revealed that the covert change of baton in Anambra State from Willie Obiano to Ebelechukwu Obiano is to bring in a hitherto defacto ‘ governor’ to be really in charge.

According to our informant, the wife of the governor, has been the one calling the shot before now and is expected to be really in charge from March 17, this year.

But the plan of the governor giving way to the wife is repulsive to the intelligentsia in Anambra State who are said to have got wind of the move and are consulting to save the State. Infact, our source said, the promptings to have Obi back on the scene are sequel to the need to look for another person to take over the helms of affairs.

Part of the move to have a replacement for Obiano, according to a source, is the reason the ASA Canada Summit in Canada in August 2016, for whioich some thin-tank in the State have been invited.

They include, Obuiano, Peter Obi, former CBN Governor, Chukuma Soludo and Minister of Labour, Dr. Chris Ngige as well as Senator Andy Ubah.

The stance of the stakeholders, it was learned, has not gone down well with Obiano who has promised to fight Obi with everything at his disposal.

But Obi’s camp, we gathered, sees Obiano’s volte face as a ranting of an ant, believing he does not know when to strike and does not have competent aides who can preempt the political  direction of the State.

To them, which ever way it goes – whether power remains or moves out of Anambra North – Obiano is out, after second year or four year in office.
