PDP said Obaseki joined the party at its State Secretariat in Benin, the state capital.
The Governor had arrived the State headquarter of the PDP, exchanging pleasantries with party chieftains.
The embattled governor was disqualified from the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries at the twilight of the Edo 2020 gubernatorial poll.
After several efforts to regain his ground failed, Obaseki took his political fortunes to PDP where, it is hoped, he will be compensated with the position of the flag-bearer.
ElombahNews had reported on June 16 that finally, the Edo State Governor dumped his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), following years of hassles.
Obaseki had engaged in constant battle with the equally embattled party national chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
The shindig led to his disqualification from the party’s primary for the forthcoming Edo 2020 governorship election in the state.
Governor Obaseki announced the resignation of his membership from APC while addressing State House Correspondents June 16.
Insinuations had been high that he will defect to the Peoples Democratic Party.
The embattled governor had held a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on the given day which yielded no positive fruit.
After the meeting, he was accosted by journalists on his way out of the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
While answering questions from State House Correspondents, he informed his audience that he has tendered his resignation to the ruling party.
