Edo guber 2016: Obiano, APGA storm Benin for Onaiwu

Awka – The ancient capital city of Benin, Edo state would play host this weekend to the big wigs of the All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA) led by Gov Willie Obiano

of Anambra state, the National Chairman of the party, Dr Victor Ike Oye, for the formal flag-off event of the party’s candidate in the coming governorship election in the state, Earl Osaro Onaiwu.

A statement from the national chairman in Abuja, said the Saturday, July 30, 2016 flag-off was planned to signpost the journey to occupying the Government House, Benin City by the party and her candidate, as governor.

The statement read in part, “APGANS from all walks of life are hereby most respectfully invited to turn out en mass to support our indefatigable candidate, Osaro Onaiwu, in our quest to win Edo state to replicate the transformational paradigm in Anambra State,”

“The choice of Osaro as our governorship candidate has changed the equation of politics in Edo State, placing APGA in a vintage position to win the September 10 election.

“We call on all our teeming supporters from all over the world to join us in our consistent effort to redirect the consciousness of our followers as a way of galvanising support to make us actualize our set goals. Nothing good comes easy.

“We need to therefore work as a team to grow APGA as the only viable alternative to the shenanigans of the so-called ruling parties. It has never been in doubt that while PDP is hemorrhaging, APC is asphyxiating. APGA is the party with a clean bill of health.

“We wish to express deep gratitude to all our members for their sacrifices, steadfastness and support for our great party. Our efforts will never be vain…”

Already members of the party from all parts of the country, especially the SouthEast and South South zones have continued to express great excitement in having APGA governor in Benin, hence were getting set to storm Benin City in large numbers to make a political statement, come Saturday.

According to one of the party’s spokespersons, Hon Chinedu Ojukwu, “it would be very heartwarming to have somewhere to stopover while going to or from Lagos, should APGA take over Edo state.”
