#EdoDecides2020: We have kicked out godfatherism in Edo —Wike

Governor of the oil rich Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has congratulated incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the ongoing Edo State governorship election held on Saturday.

Governor Wike, in a congratulatory message on Monday on his Twitter handle hinted of an undeniable victory for Governor Obaseki.

He noted that with the victory, PDP has ‘fulfilled its obligations to kick out godfatherism, first in Rivers State, now in Edo’.

He tweeted:

From results trickling in, we have fulfilled our obligations of kicking out godfatherism, First in Rivers, Now Edo, The power truly belongs to the people of Niger Delta, congratulations to my brother @GovernorObaseki and the big @OfficialPDPNig family. #EdoDecides2020 #EdoDecides”

Earlier, Wike had boasted that PDP will make history in Edo with a victory.

Evidently ascribing to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Lagos State, he noted that “Niger Delta isn’t a one man land”.

He added: “One man could decide in other regions, but in Niger Delta, the people decide.”
