Education in Edo State: What sort of man Oshiomhole has become!

122

“In Oshiomhole’s ‘wisdom’ he has done well by building another state owned Institution in front of his house in Auchi! The Governor just makes a mockery of himself, it’s shameful.”

What can one really say about him, if not very little in achievements, but plenty in deceits?

Let’s take a critical look at the Educational sector in Edo State. People will say, he has done a lot by renovating some primary and secondary schools, but what people don’t know is that he only rehabilitate the classroom blocks, but leaves the classrooms empty without tables, chairs and board for learning.

Please tell me: What is a school with red roofing and painting, but without tables, chairs and board for learning?

What is a school without water and toilet for ease of students and teachers? Is a school only made-up of red roofing and beautiful painting? These are not schools if you ask me, they are just rooms built to train future thugs, cultist, agbero’s, kidnappers and touts.

Now, I realise why he never employed any teacher in his seven (7) years as governor. Tell me what an employed teacher will be doing in an environment that it not built for learning. Even at that, he is continually at war with teachers in the state.

In the last few weeks of his administration, purely for political leverage, the Governor wants to now begin the recruitment of teachers through a very dubious process. Information had it that each applicant is required to pay a N100,000 (One Hundred Thousand Naira) bribe… Who is deceiving who?

According to the Universal Basic Education (UBE) standard, schools are to have facilities that include :

1. A library

2. Recreational / sports ground

3. Source of hygienic water

4. A sick bay

5. ICT centre – to aid learning.

6. Good convenience room (Toilets)

Federal Government provides 65 percent of the funds and Local Government 10 percent, but Oshiomole takes all the credit. These projects are supervised by the Governor, but still executed shabbily.

Our state own tertiary institutions are not left out. They are poorly funded by the state government. To the government they don’t exist, but only for fund generation. When the government needs funds to meet it deceitful spending, they remember the institutions exist.

In Oshiomhole’s ‘wisdom’ he has done well by building another state owned Institution in front of his house in AUCHI! The Governor just makes a mockery of himself, it’s shameful… SMH

Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma is an institution where government without considering the plight of students and parents, increased school fees by over 200percent. This is not a government that wants to eradicate illiteracy because its action has kept students out of school by deliberately making it unaffordable to the majority of Edo state citizens.

Can we collectively say that this APC government led by Gov. Adams Aliu Oshiomole is a government for the people?

Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma; College of Education, Ekiadolor; Polytechnic, Usen and School of Nursing among other tertiary institutions in the state have suffered seven (7)years of neglect by this government.

To crown it up is the very terrible state of the Ministry of Education building. The record building that got burnt under very mysterious circumstances several years ago have been left in its dilapidated state.

Our mumu don end!

EDO’s the time has come for us to stop this neglect, extortion and mockery in our educational sector.

Let’s vote out APC, they are no good to Education in Edo State.
