EFCC Docks Man For N20 Million Fraud
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission [EFCC], Lagos Zonal office, on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, arraigned one Alao Lawal Ope before Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining by false pretence and stealing to the tune of N20,000,000.00 (Twenty Million Naira).
The defendant, Ope, allegedly collected the money from the complainant, Jones Ehizokhale Omonua, with a promise to purchase a property for him. However, the defendant allegedly reneged on his promise and failed to refund the complainant.
EFCC Docks Man for Multi-million Naira Fraud in Kaduna
In another development, EFCC on Wednesday, arraigned Alhaji Yusha’u Mohammed Kebbe before Justice Darius Khobo of the Kaduna State High Court, Kaduna on an eight-count charge, bordering on conspiracy and criminal breach of trust involving multi-million sums of money.
The complainant alleged that in 2006 while he was in Sudan for a United Nations military operations, the defendant who is his childhood friend convinced him to invest in some projects that he is handling, for which he transferred the sum of N80,000,000 (Eighty Million Naira) in local currency to him and $156,200,000 (One Hundred and Fifty-six Million, Two Hundred Thousand Dollars) for investment, safe keeping and settlement of personal commitments on his behalf.
The complainant through enquiries later found out that the defendant diverted all the monies for his personal use while all the efforts to recover them have proved abortive till date.
N5.5 Million Land Fraud: EFCC Arraigns Man in Owerri
In yet another scenario, EFCC Enugu Zonal office, on Tuesday, arraigned one Chikere Felix Ibeawuchi before Justice T.G Ringim of the Federal High Court sitting in Owerri, Imo State on one count charge bordering on Obtaining by False Pretences to the tune of N5,500.000 (Five Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira) only. The complainant had alleged that Ibeabuwuchi sold a parcel of land situated at plot No.738 Uratta West layout Owerri Imo State at the cost of N5, 500, 000.00 to him in May 2017.
He told the EFCC that after paying the said amount, he secured the Power of Attorney from the defendant but while erecting a structure on the land, some group of people disrupted and chased him and the workers out of the property, alleging that they are the rightful owner of the said land.
