Eid-El-Fitr: FG declares Monday, Tuesday public holidays

The Federal Government has declared Monday and Tuesday as public holidays to mark the Islamic Eid-El-Fitr celebration.

The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola announced this on Friday on behalf of the Federal Government in a statement signed by the Director of Press in the Ministry, Mohammed Manga.

According to Manga, Aregbesola called on Muslim faithful to replicate the life of kindness, love, tolerance, peace and good neighbourliness as exemplified by the Prophet Mohammed.

The Minister condemned the spate of ethnic conflicts ravaging some parts of Northern Nigeria and advised Nigerians to see themselves as a single entity.

He urged them to learn to tolerate one another despite their ethnic and religious differences.

The Minister reminded Muslims to adhere to the COVID-19 guidelines and regulations as they celebrate.

He also assured Nigerians that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari was fully committed to battling the disease.
