Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi ll, press statement on the story of an alleged abduction of a teenaged girl which has been kicking up a storm on social media under the hashtag #FreeEse.
The story raises issues of child protection and child brides. A girl named Ese was reportedly abducted at the age of 13 from near her home. The Emir of Kano was eventually called upon to get involved in the matter.
