EndSARS: Police storm Afrika Shrine to stop meeting

513

Operatives of the Nigeria Police have surrounded the Afrika Shrine on Tuesday in a bid to prevent a meeting by EndSARS protesters from taking place there.

Afrika Shrine is a relaxation spot created by Afro Beats legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti who died decades ago.

The security operatives have, therefore, restricted movement in and out of the Shrine to ensure no meeting holds within the premises.

It could be recalled that Seun, one of the sons of Fela, had released flyers announcing a meeting on the lessons from EndSARS protests.

The police responded by warning the family against holding the meeting at the shrine.

The letter, shared by Seun on social media, reads in part:

“You are hereby warned to suspend such gathering as any infraction that may emerge from this gathering will be tagged a deliberate action to sabotage the transition and restoration of the peace in Lagos State by the Lagos State Government and the Nigeria Police Force.”

Consequently, mobile policemen stormed the relaxation spot and took strategic positions around the shrine as a note of warning.
