Ifeanyi Ubah in a statement said he took to the streets to address some of the protesting youths who have been rampaging around in the state.
He said, “Yesterday, I spent the entire day moving around my Senatorial District; Anambra South to personally douse the ongoing #EndSars tension at Nnewi, Ozubulu, Oraifite and Ichi axis in the absence of any security apparatus which was largely threatened by the angry mob.
“To the glory of God, I managed to calm the situation and restored normalcy as I seized the opportunity to address the issues raised by the restive youths and urged them to always remain peaceful and law abiding.
“Subsequently, I mobilized youths from Nnewi and patroled round the L.G.A’s in Anambra South to ensure that no private or public property was at the risk of being destroyed.
“As an elected public servant, I believe it is my core responsibility to do everything within the ambit of the law to defend and protect the lives and properties of my constituents not just on the floor of the Senate, but at the grassroots level too.
“Once again, I wish to use this medium to urge our youths to maintain an atmosphere of peace and order as I will continually work towards addressing and meeting your concerns. As the Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District, I remain commited to the interest of our youths and the #EndSARS protesters and shall do everything within my reach to ensure that their demands are channeled to the appropriate authorities.
“Conclusively, I wish to commiserate with the families of our youths that unfortunately lost their lives yesterday. We will continue to remember them in our hearts and in our works as we pay tribute to their courage and bravery.
“Please accept my deepest sympathies on your loss and be assured of my support. My prayers and thoughts are with you all!
“I want to specially thank all that accompanied me throughout yesterday and all that showed solidarity.
“May God bless us all!”
