EXCLUSIVE: Buhari’s Ambassador-appointee accused of alleged corruption, human trafficking, forgery, perjury, et al

An Ambassador-appointee of President Muhammadu Buhari, Ambassador Ingekim Regina Ocheni, Nigerian Deputy Ambassador to Germany, has been accused of alleged “abduction/ trafficking, impersonation, forgery, perjury, criminal conspiracy, abetment, gratification, corrupt demand by persons and deliberate frustration of investigation.”, et al

This was contained in a letter to the German Embassy to Nigeria dated January 22, 2021, and leaked to ElombahNews, asking the Embassy to deny her access to Germany and presentation of letter of credence pending investigation and subsequent prosecution.

The petition was written by legal practitioners, W. Chuks Obikwelu, Esq., on behalf of the petitioner, who is requesting the Presidency to take appropriate action.

The letter, which was addressed to the German Ambassador to Nigeria, Embassy of Germany in Abuja, was titled “Criminal investigation against Ambassador Ingekim Regina Ocheni (Nigeria Deputy Ambassador to Germany)“.

The petitioner stated that Ambassador Ocheni was involved in some form of corruption, abduction/ human trafficking, forgery, and other allegations.

The petition noted that Ocheni was invited for interrogation on her roles in the alleged crimes vide letter of invitation from National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and InterPol in Abuja, dated 8th January, 2021, and 11th January, 2021, respectively, but were ignored.

She was also dragged before the Chairman of Special Unit of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to no avail.

The petition has as its attachments a copies of petitions addressed to the Director General, National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons dated 21st December, 2020, petition addressed to Commissioner of Police (InterPol Abuja), dated 21st December, 2020, and petition addressed to the chairman, Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (Chairman’s Special Unit) dated 21st December, 2020

It reads in part:

“I write to inform your Excellency of the pending criminal investigation involving the newly-appointed Nigeria Deputy Ambassador to Germany  by InterPol (HTE TEAM), Force Headquarters, Abuja, Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (Chairman’s Special Unit) and National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (Investigation and Intelligence Unit) over acts of abduction/trafficking, Impersonation, forgery, perjury, criminal conspiracy, abetment, gratification, corrupt demand by persons and deliberate frustration of investigation.

“In furtherance to the above alleged criminal infractions which investigation is ongoing, your Excellency is graciously enjoined to deny the suspect access to Germany and presentation of her letter of credence and letter until various securities and anti-corruption agencies conclude their investigation and prosecution on this matter and allowing the suspect into Germany will jeopardize and frustrate wheels of justice.

“Accordingly, it may interest your Excellency to know that the suspect, Ambassador Ingekim Regina Ocheni was invited for interrogation on her roles in the alleged commission of crimes, vide letter of invitation from National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons dated 11th January, 2021, and InterPol Abuja, dated 8th January, 2021, was ignored by the suspect because she carried herself as someone purported to be above the law.” [Find the attached letter below]
