FCT Counter Terrorism Office Urges Religious Faithfuls To Use Ramadan To Promote Peaceful Coexistence

The Federal Capital Territory Counter Terrorism Desk Office led by the Minister of State, Hajia Miriam has called on the religious faithfuls to use this month of Ramadan to promote and strengthen peaceful coexistence in the FCT.

The Minister in a statement said that religion is an actual driver of political, social, cultural and economic decisions making.

It further said that Security Stakeholders can enhance security risk management by utilizing religious periods as opportunity to organize interfaith dialogues.

The statement read in part: “The Federal Capital Territory Counter Terrorism Desk Office, led by Hajia Miriam Ikunaiye, (FCT:CTDO) under the Honorable Minister of State, Dr. Ramatu Tijani Aliyu, is calling on the religious faithfuls and the security community to take advantage of this religious period of month of Ramadan to promote and strengthen peaceful coexistence in the FCT.

“The Counter Terrorism Desk Officer, Hajia Miriam believes that “religion is an actual driver of political, social, cultural and economic decisions making. Therefore, Security Stakeholders can enhance security risk management by utilizing religious periods as opportunity to organize interfaith dialogues, sponsor humanitarian activities and encourage community heads of different Faith to engage their followers in dialogues on religious tolerance”

religion permeates all aspects of life, “the relevance of religion to security risk management can not be underestimated,””
