FG’s Covid – 19 palliatives process a disappointment, Oligbo laments
In a press statement released in Awka, Ike Oligbo a chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Anambra 2021 Governorship hopeful decried the failure of the federal government to come to the rescue of Nigerians despite donations from well meaning Nigerians and huge grants donated by the international community to Nigeria to help the country manage the Covid – 19 economic fallout.
It is absurd that not a single person in most states of the federation has genuinely attested to being a recipient of the federal government claimed palliatives distribution, Oligbo stated.
He decried the idea of playing on the sensibilities and intelligence of Nigerians on the pretext of administering palliative measures.
He therefore called on the federal government to adopt more proactive measures on the management of covid – 19 especially as it affects palliatives considering the fact that Nigeria has no social security for her teeming and young population.
On the N850bn loan recently approved by the Senate for the federal government Oligbo expressed concern over the judicious use of the loan and appeal to Nigerians to jettison political party affiliations and promote transparency and accountability in the management of National wealth/affairs.
“We ought to act as watchdogs to Nigerian affairs irrespective of political party affiliations,” Oligbo emphasized.
