Fleeing boko haram terrorist ambushed, killed [with photos]

The troops of OPERATION LAFIYA DOLE yesterday ambushed and killed two fleeing terrorists and captured several weapons and Boko Haram logistics supplies. 

The troops who laid the ambush at the Boko Haram crossing point into Sambisa Forest at Iza, engaged the terrorists who succumbed to the superiority of the troops and fled.

One general purpose machine gun (GPMG) and one AK 47 assault rifle were captured. 

Other items abandoned by the terrorists were three bicycles, provisions including maggi, potash, peanut and onions.

Earlier on Monday afternoon, in an offensive operation to clear Boko Haram terrorists’ enclave around Kwatarha and Torikwaptir general area of Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, a notorious Boko Haram terrorist that had been wracking havoc among the communities was gunned by troops while four others escaped with gunshot wounds. 

An AK-47 assault rifle was recovered from the killed terrorist.

Also yesterday, troops of 3 Division arrested a suspected Boko Haram kingpin, Alhaji Tijjani Usman Damagum.

He was tracked down and arrested at Damagum town in Yobe State. 

The arrested high profile Boko Haram member has led the group on various attacks especially in Yobe State. 

The suspect is currently undergoing interrogation with a view to arraign him soon.
