Garba Shehu’s Statement Unfortunate, Lacks Legal Understanding ~ Lawyer

Immediate past president of the Campaign for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), Malachy Ugwummadu, has discribed Garba Shehu’s recent statement on Southern Governors stance on open grazing as unfortunate.
He also expressed doubt as to the federal government and Shehu’s understanding of the legal underpinnings of the country.
The presidential spokesman in a statement, purporting to speak for the presidency, said the Southwest governor’s proposed plan to enforce the ban on open grazing is of “questionable legality” and a show of power.
This statement made by Shehu has continue to evoke reactions from Nigerians, with some condemning it.
Malachy in his reactions, said the incident is avoidable extra judicial killings . “The statement is unfortunate because it was made without any legal understanding , you cannot be criticizing the way and manner the political leader of state choose to manage the land in their respective states, on what basis is the presidency challenging the governors in their decisions even in their respective states.
“I found it unfortunate on the basis of what the law says because the killings human beings in the country are very avoidable,” he said.
