Gosimkamfunanya Series: The difference between Ifeanyi Ubah & others
While the rest assemble a think-tank of seasoned politicians with oratorical prowess, who are versed in political chants and unending promises, that are in tune with what they feel the people need to hear; Senator Ubah walks the talk, and leaves in his trail, huge achievements as proof of his ability to deliver as promised.
One recalls with nostalgia the events that transpired during the height of COVID-19 pandemic, when the state Government made frantic efforts to scuttle Senator Ubah’s rallying call on worthy sons and daughters of Anambra, as well as his friends and contacts to assist in building brand new hospitals and isolation centres for our people.
While the Anambra State Government ( who one can safely describe now as being short sighted) , through its Commissioner for Information, Mr C. Don Adinuba, was busy questioning the rationale and possibility behind an individual’s decision to embark on building one new hospital, the visionary idea bearer and capacity laden Senator was already seeing in his mind’s eye, three hospitals (one for each senatorial zone); and ambulances delivered to salvage the situation and rescue our people from avoidable deaths from the pandemic.
In Newspaper publications then, mainly on National dailies, Mr C. Don Adinuba made the following statements:
“The outbreak of the pandemic should not be a reason for anyone to start promising to build a brand new hospital, which will certainly take a very long time to complete. This is why serious minded Nigerians who can easily build hospitals on their own are aligning with the federal as well as state Governments to equip existing hospitals and motivate the staff members who are on the frontline in the battle against the Corona virus.” [End of Quote]
And now to the shocking part of the press release, Mr C. Don Adinuba said the following:
“Successful entrepreneurs like Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Mr Herbert Wigwe, Chief, Mrs Folorunso Alakija, Dr Mike Adenuga and Mr Tony Elumelu, who are not indebted to the Asset Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON), have contributed significantly to the campaign against the coronavirus, and they have at every point worked in collaboration with the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Federal Government and the Lagos State government. They are not executing hidden agendas.
“Here in Anambra State, such eminently patriotic individuals as Dr. Ernest Obiejesi, Chief Allen Onyema and Dr. Clement Nwogbo have contributed handsomely to the Anambra State Government’s effort to check the spread of the highly infectious scourge in our state.
“They recognise that it is immoral to play politics with the lives of millions of our people. It is, in fact, unconscionable and a mortal sin to politicize the current fight against COVID-19.” End Of Quote
It took six months for this same individual, Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, who was subjected to these vicious media attacks, to deliver two state of the art hospitals fully built and equipped in Anambra State along with ambulances also fully equipped for medical emergencies to boot.
Do not forget that it would have been three hospitals, had the same state government not stopped the one being built along with the others in Nsugbe by taking advantage of the fact that the building already at foundation level was sited in a state owned institution, Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe (NOCEN).
The above narration drives the following posers:
~ What if these illustrious sons and daughters of the state didn’t ignore the shenigans by the State Government, what would have been the fate of these hospitals today?
~ What did the State Government do with the funds that it also generated from the public during the same Covid era ?
~ Will this outgoing government also come back after their tenure to stop the hospital at Nsugbe from completion under the incoming Senator Dr Ifeanyi Ubah-led state government ?
~ When Ifeanyi Ubah says “I will build hospitals” during the campaigns, will anyone still doubt whether he will ?
~ Or when he promises to build a befitting international stadium for the state , when he is the only African on record to have built and own a FIFA certified one as an individual ?
~ How about his promise on durable road network across the state , when the one he built in Nnewi is still standing without a single pothole 9 years after construction
~ Or industrial clusters , when it is on record that he has being arguably the biggest employer of labour in the state after the State Government .
~ On security, will an Ifeanyi Ubah with his actions during the ENDSARS protests be quiet and unconcerned while our promising youths get cut down in senseless cult wars in the State Capital as we are witnessing currently under this government ?
Now do a mental analysis of these qualifications vis-a-vis that of the other aspirants and tell me why Ndi Anambra will not go for the tested and trusted, as opposed to the trial and error .
Indeed, a new Anambra is possible with Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah.
#GosimKamfunanya is the creed.
#OpenDoorRevolution is the vehicle for the emancipation of our people.
