Gov. obaseki presents N153.4 billion budget proposal to Edo House of Assembly

The executive governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki has presented a N153.4 billion budget proposal to Edo House of Assembly for.

The budget document which was tagged, ‘Making Edo Great Again (MEGA) Budget’, according to Obaseki “is exclusively pinned on robustly responding to the dislocations caused by the coronavirus pandemic, whilst building a workforce of the future.”

The governor further said the budge will address challenges in critical sectors of the economy.

He said, “I have presented a N153.4 billion budget proposal to the Edo State House of Assembly, for the 2021 fiscal year, representing a 9.7% increase from the revised 2020 budget and comprising N94.8 billion for recurrent expenditure and N58.6 billion for capital expenditure.

“The budget document, christened, ‘Making Edo Great Again (MEGA) Budget’, is exclusively pinned on robustly responding to the dislocations caused by the coronavirus pandemic, whilst building a workforce of the future.

“The proposed 2021 budget would address challenges in critical sectors of the economy, with increased targeted investments on the state’s most valued resource – its people.

“With the collaboration of the Honourable house, we have designed a unique instrument through which the state government can also attract private sector funding targeted at key development projects.

“Receiving the 2021 budget proposal, Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun, commended my prioritizing the welfare of Edo people and assured me that the document would receive their due consideration and passage.”
