The Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode seems to have finally succumbed to the fire power of his godfather, and the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress [APC], Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

ElombahNews also reported of intrigues over who picks the APC ticket for the 2019 contest in Lagos State.

Several sources say that the incumbent Governor  has even contemplated defecting from the party to the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] or the Social Democratic Party [SDP].

While Ambode and two others, Mr. Jide Sanwoolu and Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, have picked the governorship nomination forms for the APC ticket, it was reported that Tinubu has choose Sanwoolu to succeed Ambode.

Though the three of them are known godsons of the party’s national leader, it has been variously speculated that Tinubu has unresolved issues with Ambode.

Reports have it that Ambode is fighting for his political life after about 50 council chairmen loyal to Tinubu met and pledged their support to Sanwonolu.

Besides the fact that Ambode had denied such insinuation, he finally seemed to have bowed to his godfather in a speech he delivered on Monday during the launch of a book, ‘Africa Rise And Shine’ by the founder of Zenith Bank, Jim Ovia.

Speaking, Ambode jokingly asked if he was qualified to speak in an event that Tinubu figured prominently.

He stated: “Actually, I didn’t prepare to come and say anything here and who am I to speak after the Jagaban has spoken?”

Speaking about the new book, the governor said he was certain that the wealth of experience shared by the author will serve as a compass for young entrepreneurs in the country.

He said: “I am certain that the wealth of experience shared will serve as a compass for young entrepreneurs who dare to dream and redefine the African narrative”.
