Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello is set to embark on public transport infrastructure projects in the State capital, Lokoja.
In a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, Odaudu Joel Minister, the Kogi State Capital, Lokoja is poised for a face-lift as the Ministry of Transportation gets the go-ahead from the State Executive Council to embark on Public Transport Infrastructure Development Projects across the metropolis during its weekly Executive Council meeting held on Wednesday 20th September, 2017.
This development was further emphasized by the Commissioner for Transportation, Prince Sani Ogu Salisu, who appraised the commitment of His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello to repositioning the state while noting that the projects will vastly improve the transport infrastructure in the capital and serve as lasting legacy of the New Direction Administration of Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
According to the Commissioner, Hon. Salisu Sani Ogu, the projects approved includes:
* Construction of New Confluence City Gate to serve as a welcome monument to the Confluence City.
*Improvement works on road junctions within Lokoja township and construction of Bus stop Shelters within Lokoja.
Also approved were:
* Construction of two Mini Terminals at Zango Daji and Ganaja Village to serve as Inter-City Parks.
* Refurbishing of the Lokoja Mega Terminal for all the Parks within the Lokoja township.
As the linking state connecting the Southern and Northern regions of the Nigeria, the state – especially the capital, Lokoja – sees the most traffic in the country, so it becomes essential that the current transport infrastructure undergoes a face-lift.
